HOW IT WORKS

This is a new concept for the Internet, Author Writing Contests and the book publishing environment.  So here we go.

It's time for Readers of the Real-World to have a say in what they want to read and what writers get published.  Also it is time for all individuals in the writing and publishing industry to be involved as a contestant.

Our goal is to have a contest that starts each quarter for each genre.  Each category will contain a maximum of twelve (12) authors/writers.

It is really important that each Author has a completed work or almost completed work before entering this contest.  It will really help obtaining a publisher if your manuscript is ready to be published.

Authors may team up with other Professional, Amateur, Newspaper, Magazine, and other Writers, Authors, Editors, Novelist, Reviewers, Blogger, Literary Agents, Publishers, Resellers, Advertisers, Translators, Graphic Designers, and Printers to create a team all working to collect votes for their work and get it published.

Author contest registration is open year round.  Register and pick your contest date, than start collecting votes for your work.

The contest currently has nineteen (19) unique genres for the Writers/Authors to submit their manuscripts into.

A fantastic writing competition is waiting for you.

Step Alpha > Register:
Authors Register and post their book metadata which will be reviewed by the judges.  The judges will provide private feedback to each Registered Author about their entry.

The contest management will determine if the book is worthy of acceptance into the contest.  Authors who are not accepted at this level of competition may re-enter with their work in the next contest.  This is the only time that the contest management will have the final say in determine the contest winner.  Ultimate Hero is not in the business to embarrass anyone.

Selected contestants and their information will now be posted for all to view.

Note:  Metadata contains the book title, Authors bio, book description, and other directly related information that the author inserts during contest registration.

Phase Beta > Team Selection:
Authors may select a team that will work on their title.  It is not a requirement to enter but we suggest the Author have an Editor, and book cover Graphic Designer as part of the Author Team.  Keep in mind the more people working with the author the better chance of winning the voting competition.

If you currently do not have an editor or cover designer than take a look at the list of available members and send out messages requesting support.  If that still does not work please use the Contact Us option and ask for assistance.  UHC will do its best to help you find the required support.  No Guarantee!

Each voter may vote for only one author in this final round to determine the Grand Prize Winner.

Grand Prize Winner and rankings will be announced Tuesday at 12:00 pm on the Ultimate Hero Contest web site www.ultimateherocontest.com and other locations.

VOTING -- HOW IT WORKS:
During the Voting Period, the judges will give each Author a score based on several factors, which may including writing skill, grammar, style, character development and readability.  But the judges' scores alone do not decide an Author's fate.  Online voting will begin at the scheduled published date and will require voters to be a registered member of UniversalHeroContest.com.  All registered member including the Author and their team may vote in this contest.  Online voting will remain open for the duration of each contest period.

In the UHC, the author with the highest combined score from judges and registered votes will move on to the next round of the competition.  The scoring is divided evenly between the judges and the voters, ensuring unpredictable outcomes at the end of each contest round.

When the final three authors remain in the ultimate hero contest, the Grand Prize Winner will be selected and the trophy and the Publishers Contract awarded.

To vote visit www.ultimateherocontest.com, register and post your Vote.

All votes are automatically counted and are posted in real time during the three day period of voting.

PROCEDURE FOR ELIMINATING AUTHORS:
During the first week each authors receives points from the judges, registered Contest Participants, and votes from the public.  For each Author UHC determineS the share they received of the total points given by the judges during each voting period, and the share they received of the public's votes and add these two shares together.  The Authors Team with the lowest combined total is eliminated from the contest and does not move forward to the next round.

For example if Author Teams A, B and C respectively receive 38, 26 and 14 points from the judges, we calculate what share these points represent of the total awarded by the judges during the voting period.  In this example the judges gave 78 points in total, and each Author Teams' share of 78 points breaks down as follows:
A:  38 points = 48.72% of 78;
B:  26 points = 33.33% of 78;
C:  14 points = 17.95% of 78.

Let's suppose that when the public votes (Contest Participants, Non-Registered and Registered Voters) are tallied, each Author Team has the following shares:  A= 20%, B=40%, C=40%.  To determine who's eliminated, we combine these two shares for the total:
Couple A:  20+48.72%= 68.72%
Couple B:  40+33.33%= 73.33%
Couple C:  40+17.95%= 57.95%

In this example, the lowest Author Team would be C, and C would be eliminated and not move forward in the contest.

In the case of an exact tie both Author Teams will move forward.

In the case of an exact tie for the Grand Prize both Author Teams will receive the award of a Certificate and a Publishing Contract.

The competition is governed by the Official Rules made available to each Author and their Team.  The above is a summary for informational purposes only.
